This research group is focused on the intersection of trauma and personality. Potential research projects include (but are not limited to) moderating effects of personality traits on the association between traumatic experiences and mental health outcomes, relative influence of different kinds of traumatic events on mental health outcomes, and criterion and structural validity of normative and maladaptive personality traits (see Research tab). Our research is informed by interpersonal theory and incorporates the use of advanced statistical methodology (Bayesian statistics, latent variable modeling, and person-centered analytic techniques). This is a project-focused lab, with the hope that students will be interested in contributing to and developing research for publication in scientific journals and presentation at local, national, and international scientific/professional conferences (e.g., International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies [ISTSS], Society for Personality Assessment [SPA], Society for Interpersonal Theory and Research [SITAR]).
